DSTV recently hosted a soiree to celebrate the relaunch of DSTV Mobile. Just in time for the World Cup, the DSTV mobile device allows users to experience a variety of programming content on the go. The event was held at De Marquee in Mega Plaza, Lagos and was well-attended by a bunch of celebrities including Julius Agwu, Sasha, Chinedu Ikedieze, Osita Iheme, Omo Baba, Big Brother Africa’s Geraldine, Segun Arinze, IK, Funlola Aofiyebi, Omawumi, Waje, Dakore Egbuson, Lepacious Bose and Adora Oleh.

The event was hosted by Julius Agwu and Moses Perez of Super Sport, there was a brief speech by MNet Nigeria GM, Joseph Hundah, he explained that subscription to 10 DSTV channels will be free until March 2011 (users just need to buy the phone and they are good to go!). There were musical performances by ChiDynma and Dr. SID as well as funny moments courtesy of Omo Baba and Lepacious Bose. Overall, a fun event!

Last month, a two-day conference tagged 100 Years of the Nigerian Woman: Achieving 50/50 by 2020 took place at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event was sponsored by Folorunsho Alakija and it is part of the Nigeria Centenary Celebration. The event is aimed at reinforcing the role of women in nation building.

The event kicked off with inspiring speeches and panel discussions. At night, the ladies got to network and be entertained at the Gala Dinner.

Guests including First Lady of Nigeria Dame Patience Jonathan, Bola Shagaya, Rita Dominic, Oluchi Orlandi, Sammy Okposo, Onyeka Onwenu, Erelu Abiola Dosunmu, TY Bello, Musiliu Obanikoro, Princess Dammy, Lepacious Bose, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Nike Davies Okundaye and Ara were ushered into the arrivals lounge which was decorated with images of some of Nigeria’s most iconic women.

That is what Uche Jombo‘s new production “Unconditional” is all about.

The movie set to premiere soon, stars Dakore Akande, Annie Macaulay-Idibia, Lepacious Bose, Ruth Kadiri, Bayo Bankole and Chika Chukwu.

Synopsis

Gina’s (Uche Jombo) 8 month old child was stolen. 11 years later…”not too good in maths”, Isabella is shocked to see herself on TV as the mathematics challenge winner but they called her Amanda Peters (Isabella’s missing twin sister).

Mrs Peters (Dakore Akande) claims she has adoption papers for Amanda Peters but Gina never gave her child up for adoption.

On Sunday 16th March 2014, the private screening of “Tunnel” took place at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The movie is the first feature film that Nigerian songstress Waje stars in. It also features splendid performances by Nse Ikpe-Etim, Femi Jacobs, Lepacious Bose and Patrick Doyle.

Tunnel tells the story of a young pastor and his journey to self discovery. The movie’s producers Adejumoke Olatunde, Nike Erinle and Grace Edwin-Okon as well as the director Stanlee Ohikhuare were also present at the event.

On Saturday 31st May 2014, the Miss Curvy 2014 grand finale was held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Hosted by comedienne/actress Lepacious Bose, the pageantry saw Ifeoma Anadu representing Kano win the top honour. She will get a saloon car, a working contract for a year as well as consolation prizes.

The first and second runner up are Daina Ifeoma Akpuru and Jennifer Okizie.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is having a movie night today and he selected the new production by actress Omoni Oboli for his viewing pleasure.

Her movie is titled Being Mrs Elliot and stars Majid Michel, AY Makun, Lepacious Bose, Uru Eke, Seun Akindele and Bishop Ime Umoh.

The movie will be privately screened by 8:30 PM at the Presidential Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja, FCT.

As BN earlier reported, Nollywood actress Omoni Oboli was invited by President Goodluck Jonathan for the private screening of her movie – Being Mrs Elliot.

The screening took place yesterday Thursday 14th August at the Presidential Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja.

At the private affair, the movie star dressed in blue met with other dignitaries including Vice President Namadi Sambo.

Ali Baba is putting together a show to usher in the New Year and it is aptly called the Ali Baba January 1^st Concert.

Nigerian comedy royalty such as Okey Bakassi, AY, Helen Paul, Lepacious Bose, Seyi Law, Owen Gee, Gbenga Adeyinka, Basorge Tariah, Teju Babyface, Tee-A, Funny Bone, Bovi, Akpororo, Yaw and Koffi will meet with frontline music stars including Oritsefemi, Yemi Alade, Omawumi, D’banj and his DKM Crew, Timaya, Harrysong, Jaywon, May D, Black Magic, Sound Sultan and Tunde Ednut for one evening of electrifying entertainment.

Aside from musical performances and stand-up routines, 12 comedians will review 12 major events of 2014, while 12 comedians will roast/toast 12 selected personalities, all done from various unexpected and humorous angles with the typically razor sharp wit of acts like Akpororo and Bovi coming to the fore.

All good things come to an end and that was the same for Season 1 of the Malta Guinness-powered reality series – Game On, which ended with a fab grand finale.

The show kicked off with an opening round of jokes and banter by comics Owen Gee and Lepacious Bose who after making the guest laugh handed over to Gordons, the official host of the night.

Head of #TeamFashion Lanre Da Silva-Ajayi and the head of #TeamFootball Daniel Amokachi had the last chance to defend their passions in one minute before a recap of memories of the contestants in the house and on the tasks of season 1.

After, the runway was set for a fashion show with #Teamfashion putting their best foot forward to present a great show. #TeamFootball also put on a show as they showcased a football-inspired dance piece to which musician Waje scored them 8/10 when asked about her thoughts on their performance. Rooting for #TeamFootball, Noble Igwe scored the team 9/10.

The performances continued with one from RnB singer Niyola and Alobam singer Phyno.

With all the fun done, it was the moment of truth. Nigeria’s true passion was unveiled as Olumide Ajibolade was declared winner over Henrietta with #TeamFootball winning 52% of the votes compared to #TeamFashion’s 48% in the voting outcome by Nigerian via Facebook and SMSs across the nation.

Olumide, shocked by the outcome, broke into prayers as he beamed with joy and called his family to break the news in 6 words “tell them say I don win”, the crowd erupted into laughter and applause.

Uche Onwudiwe, the Marketing Manager of Malta Guinness said “we are glad to have been the umpires in finding Naijas true passion. People have always assumed it was football and really the fashion industry is an exciting one plus they gave a good fight on this one but football came out tops with a narrow margin. However, whichever passion it was, the Malta Guinness brand purpose is all about helping the everyday Nigerians get ready for that big break that is all around us either by nourishing them with goodness and vitality or helping them with rare opportunities like this one”.

Reacting to his win of the grand prize which is a trip to England for a series of training and coaching classes and a sum of two million Naira cash, Olumide said “they say Malta Guinness fuels the passion of Naija, I am a testimony! Our lives are changed forever and I am deeply grateful to Malta Guinness, my team captain Daniel Amokachi, our rival captain Mrs Lanre Da Silva, all other contestants and the almighty God“.

Celebrating the win on this grand night with the contestants were a list of celebrities that includes football legend, Taribo West, Rapper Phyno, songstress and vocalist, Waje and Omawumi; media personalities Joseph Benjamin, Adams Ibrahim and Noble Igwe, DJ Xclusive, among others.
